If Ouessant was told to us…

If Ouessant was told to us... was conceived as an imaginary echo of A Summer’s Tale, a film by Eric Rohmer in which Gaspard, student and amateur musician, promises successively to three different girls (Léna, the capricious girlfriend with a changing mood ; Solène, a beautiful brunette with strong principle he befriends ; and last but not least Margot, an ethnology student who becomes his confidant) that he will bring them along to Ouessant. Faced with that impossible challenge, he prefers to leave alone, saved by music. The journey to France’s most westerly Isle will forever go no further than a broken promise. I went on a photographic trip to Ouessant, as a souvenir that could have been, to celebrate one of Rohmer’s best films.
